Your new house has a pre-existing security system
Many times after you buy a home, you’ll notice that the old owners left a home security system. All the alarms and cameras work, are installed in the correct places, and are ready to go. In this case, all you might have to do is to call and set up a new contract. A Vivint professional will still come to your home to make sure there are no usability problems, and they could offer ideas on upgrades. It's a preliminary appointment, and you can have your alarm monitoring set up without paying for any new alarms and cameras -- unless you get some new devices.
The outgoing owners can move an existing Vivint contract to you for a nominal set-up fee to make the process simpler. If the owners are downsizing to an apartment or retirement community, transferring the security contract might be an addendum of the sale.
You want to move and take your home security equipment with you
You might need to bring along your existing Vivint system with you to a new home when you move. Luckily, it's pretty easy to do, as most alarms and smart devices are wireless. You can take down each alarm or camera by yourself or call a Vivint installer to take care of everything. Then our installers will set up the same features -- and any new items you want -- in your new house. Your home security contract will keep the same.
